Mined in Badakhshan for 6,000+ years, this blue stone comes from the same Afghan source used by ancient Egyptians and Renaissance painters. This 18 cm polished lapis paperweight is a flat freeform slab with subtle white veining and a little golden-toned matrix along one edge.
It sits flat and feels solid in hand. The front is polished smooth, while the back keeps a more natural stone texture. The color is a vivid royal blue, and the pale veins show more when you turn it in strong light. People also buy pieces like this for collector shelves or as a mineral specimen. It is traditionally associated with the third eye.
All photos are taken in natural sunlight.
